Ira was born in 1878. He was the son of Cornelius Rhodes and Sally Evans.
Ira died on December 16, 1951, in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro on the following day.[1]

1880 - United States Federal Census - In 1880, Corneleus Rhodes, 44, and his wife, Sarah A., 37, are living in Owensboro, Daviess County Kentucky. In the household are William W. Rhodes, 21, Theodrick W. Rhodes, 18; Mary B. Rhodes, 17; John T. Rhodes, 15; James Rhodes, 12; Artemess Rhodes, 10; Eddy Rhodes, 6; and Ira Rhodes. Also listed is Lizzy Rose, 57.[2]
1900 - United States Federal Census - In the 1900 census, Corneilus Rhodes, 66, is listed in Pigeon, Vanderburgh, Indiana, with his wife Sally, 59. Also living with them are their sons Ira, 22 and Rollie, 21 and granddaughter Nettie Poole. Cornelius, Ira and Rollie are working as laborers and Nettie is working as a laundress.[3]
