Biography

Martha was born about 1866. She was the daughter of Charles Rhodes and Julia Ray.

Martha was married to James Moran on May 15, 1893, in Macoupin County, Illinois.[1]

She passed away in 1950 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois. A memorial page can be found on Find A Grave.

1880 - United States Federal Census - In the 1880 census, Charles is listed as Charles Rhoads, 38, livingin Polk Township, Macoupin County, Illinois, with his wife, Julia A., 39. Also listed in the household are Mary E. Rhoads, 17; Martha J. Rhoads, 14; Joseph M. Rhoads, 12; Cascus M. Rhoads, 10; and Lucy C. Rhoads, 8. Charles is working as a farmer.[2]

May 15, 1893 - Marriage - Married to James Moran in Macoupin County, Illinois.

1900 - United States Federal Census - In 1900, Charles M. Rhodes, 58, is living in Polk Township, Macoupin County, Illinois, with his second wife, Theresa J. Rhodes, 45, and their family. Enumerated were Lucy C. Rhodes, 26, Jula A. Rhodes, 5; Agatha E. Rhodes, 10, Glayds D. Rhodes, 6; Joseph Rhodes, 19; Marth J. Moran, 35; Secial L. Moran, 6; Mary L. Moran, 4; and Nancie V. Moran, 1.[3]

1910 - United States Federal Census - In the 1910 census, James Moran, 47, is living with his wife, Martha J. Moran, 45, in Carlinville Ward 3, Macoupin, Illinois. Living with them are their three daughters, Cecily E. Moran, 16; Anna V. Moran 11, and Lorina Moran, 5. James is working for the railroad.[4]
