Jim,

I see you're creating many pre-1700 (and it looks like post-1700) profiles and attaching them to parents or children with only "ancestry family tree" as a source. Can you please add better sources (as required by the pre-1700 quiz) before creating any more or attaching to parents/children? Many thanks. Making such changes on pre-1700 profiles requires contact with the projects managing them; this can usually be achieved by adding a comment on the profile you wish to change. If the project is managing the profile, its volunteers will see your comment. Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants so coordination with applicable projects is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3.

I suggest the Maryland Project. The Pre-1700 Projects list has other possibilities. Also, please ensure the sources you use on profiles meet the expectation you agreed to when taking the pre-1700 Certification Quiz.

Have questions? Click my name, then ask in the comments on my profile.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hi!

I'm Eowyn, a WikiTree Mentor and Team Member. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person. The farther back in your tree, the more likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile. Try to add an estimated date and place of birth, at the very least, a country, for each person. This helps in searches. Last but not least, try to source each profile as you go.

We also have a naming standard here.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide to get you started.

Do you have any questions I can help with?

Thank you, for volunteering to help grow our worldwide family tree. Our Honor Code, G2G message forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages. VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after. Our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please try very hard not to add any duplicates to our shared tree. Hope you enjoy WikiTree! Donna
My name is Jim Rhodes and I've been researching my family for 15 years and if I can help, I will. At the same time maybe I can learn something. My computer skills are lacking, but I'm still trying.

Welcome to WikiTree. We're glad you found us.

How To Use WikiTree is a good place to start. It is a step-by-step-guide to WikiTree basics. Our G2G Forum is searchable or you can post a question there. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.

If you would like to contribute your family's tree and you agree with our Honor Code (click the link to it in the drop-down menu in "Help" at upper right), volunteer here on your profile by typing a message with something referencing the Honor Code and sharing and we would be glad to add you to our WikiTree community. Donna
