DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hannah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Hannah:
Rice-3441 and Rice-1037 appear to represent the same person because: I adopted Rice-3441 and cleaned it up so her info roughly matched that of Hannah Rice daughter of Hannah Walker and David Rice. I'm not so worried about birth date at this point so I defer to others.
This is the 1st part of a de-tangle to fix Rice/ Bent/ Sherman and Seeley profiles. Thanks
I would be happy to implement the cleanup I described below, but not without some consensus from the relevant profile owners. Please feel free to weigh in. Thanks in advance....
I don't think Hannah (Rice) Sherman (Rice-1037) existed. I think David Rice and Hannah Walker are the parents of Hannah (Rice) Bent (Rice-3441) who married John Bent (Bent-119) and raised a family in and near Sudbury, Massachusetts. I don't believe Matthew Sherman was married to Hannah Rice but rather Hannah Seeley who was the daughter of John Seeley (Seeley-56) and Sarah Squire (Squire-203) who all lived and raised families near Stratford, CT.
These profiles are already in place on Wikitree with appropriate children in place. To me it just seems the connections are wrong. It can be cleaned up pretty easily.
Now for the bad news: Some of my thinking was influenced by two LDS files:
Hannah (Rice -1037) Sherman and Hannah (Rice-3441) Bent show each other as sisters born a year apart of the same mother Hannah (Walker-1901) Rice who's profile shows both Hannah's as sisters. To cloud the issue a bit, they both show aunts named Hannah (Rice-39)
However according to A Genealogical Dictionary of The First Settlers of New England, Before 1692, Volume #3, Revell - Rich' By James Savage ; the father David Rice-758 had only one Hannah as a daughter born in 1692... "DAVID, Framingham, vol. 3, p. 528 s. of Henry, m. 7 Apr 1687, Hannah, d. of Thomas Walker, had Elizabeth b. 8 Sept. 1689; Hannah, 5 Jan. 1692; Bezaleel; Josiah, 19 Aug. 1701. He was deac. his w. d. 18 Dec. 1704; and he d. 16 Oct. 1723."
Given this, there is some work to be done on these profiles.
LDS records consistently show Hannah Rice marrying John Bent in Framingham, MA and raising a family in Framingham, Massachusetts. The children listed in this profile were born in Connecticut. LDS records also show Matthew Sherman marrying Hannah Seeley, living and raising a family in Stratford, CT with children's names matching Hannah Seeley's children. It is also a little strange that Hannah Rice would have married a man from Stratford, CT, raised a family in CT and died in MA. Could Matthew's spouce actually be Hannah Seeley? Thanks for your consideration.
Might Rice-3441 be the same person? I suggest the possibility that she married twice... I don't know, I am guessing, but too many other overlaps exist.
This is the 1st part of a de-tangle to fix Rice/ Bent/ Sherman and Seeley profiles. Thanks
