Its just the letter born In his Revolutionary Pension Application he says he added the letter B to distinguish himself as there were 4 William Rices in Prince Edward County VA Revolutionary War soldier. Enlisted 1775 under Cap William Campbell, Col Patrick Henry, 1st VA regiment, 76-79 Sargent 80 Quartermaster 2nd VA regiment David M , William G and Benjamin B all got land patents in Montgomery, MO 1829 and Fabian Y Rice also got 2 in same general area After the Rev War he accompanied Daniel Boone on one of his expeditions to KY. He moved to Lincoln County KY and lived near some of his cousins. William B settled in Montgomery MO in 1825. He was elected Assessor in Montgomery Co MO. He also kept tavern on the Booneslick road
