Biography

John married Elizabeth Catherine Wright. Their children were:

1. William Noah Rice 1825-1903
2. Charles Rice 1829-1920
3. Nancy Rice Miller 1826-1878
4. George Anderson Rice 1831-1916
5. Phebe Rice
6. John Kenimore Rice 1837- 1908
7. Elizabeth Rice 1834

After his first wife died, John married Elizabeth L Hooten (1829-1871) in 1849 . Their children were:

1. Francis Marion Rice 1850- 1926
2. John W. Rice 1868-1905
3. Martha Ann Rice Beck 1858-1905
4. William E Rice 1854-1887

John received land in Coweta County, Georgia through the Georgia Cherokee Land Lottery of 1832.[1] He raised his family there.[2] He moved his family to Alabama before 1850.[3] In 1859, he purchased land in Randolph, Alabama.[4] He lived there until his death in 1882.[5] John is buried in Rice Cemetery, Randolph County, Alabama.[6]
