Hezekiah Roys (or Royce) was born on 16 Dec 1739, in Wallingford, New Haven County, Connecticut Colony, and baptized at the First Congregational Society, established in Meriden, a parish of Wallingford, on 23 Dec 1739. He was the son of Abel Royce and Joanna Beach.[1][2][3]
Note concerning marriages: According to Jacobus,[4] Hezekiah married twice. His first wife was Louise (Unknown) -- identified here as Lois Damon -- who died in Claremont, New Hampshire, on 29 Feb 1799, at the age of 47 (citing a Claremont gravestone inscription). His second wife was Tabitha Chapin, whom he married on 30 Dec 1790. Tabitha died in Claremont at the age of 72, on 9 Mar 1817 (citing a Claremont gravestone inscription).
Hezekiah's first three children were born at New Cambridge (after 1785, Bristol) in Farmington Township, Connecticut Colony. The others are thought to have been born at Claremont, Cheshire County (after 1827, Sullivan County), in New Hampshire. Our best approximation of a list of his children from his marriage to Lois comes from several membership index cards for his family for the Union Church of Claremont, New Hampshire.[5]:
Thankful Roys b. 25 Jul 1764 New Cambridge, Hartford, Connecticut; Christened on 12 Aug 1764 in the Episcopal Church of New Cambridge (later Bristol), Hartford, Connecticut. Thankful married Samuel Fitch.[6]
Joanna Roys b. 27 Feb 1766, Christened 9 Mar 1766 in the Bristol Church, New Cambridge, Hartford, Connecticut. Married Asa Wilson.
Shubel Roys b. 23 Jan 1768 in New Cambridge, Hartford, Connecticut; d. in 1833 Fairfield, Franklin, Vermont. Shubel married Ruth Thomas.

Hezekiah Roys Jr b. 25 May 1774 Claremont, Cheshire, New Hampshire; d. 1867 in Swanton, Franklin, Vermont. Hezekiah married Polly Cady.

Jesse Diamond Roys b. 30 Jul 1782 Claremont, Cheshire, New Hampshire; Christened on 23 May 1782 in the Union Church, West Claremont, New Hampshire. Jesse married Betsy Bradley. His birth information may be incorrect.
Abel Meholah Royce b. 2 May 1784; Christened 23 May 1784 Union Church, West Claremont, New Hampshire; d. 22 May 1872, Fairlee, Orange, Vermont. First m. Ellen Matthews, second m. Clarissa Orcutt.
Jotham Royce b. 7 Apr 1786 Claremont, Cheshire, New Hampshire; Christened on 27 May 1787. Jotham may go by Jonathan. He married Fanny Pierce.
Hezekiah served in the Connecticut militia during the French and Indian War. He enlisted on 25 May 1758, and was discharged on 4 Nov 1758, according to the 1758 Muster Role for the 1st Connecticut Regiment, commanded by Colonel Phineas Lyman, 10th Company, commanded by Captain Josiah Lee of Farmington until 22 Aug 1758, then by Captain John Stoughton of Windsor.[7]
Hezekiah Royce died on 29 May 1813, in Claremont, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. Death place: New Hampshire, United States[8]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hezekiah by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Rice-6992 and Royce-11 appear to represent the same person because: Hezekiah's second wife was Tabitha Chapin. The birth and death dates are close enough. The main difference is that Hezekiah never used the last name Rice. That was started by some of his children, for example, Abel M Rice. He lived in Claremont, NH but was born in Wallingford, CT.
