Marguerite Victoire Richard, daughter of Victor Richard and Marie Madeleine Brasseur, was born about April 1780. She was baptized on 23 May 1780 at the age of 5 weeks, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana.[1]
A petition for dispensation from "the impediment of relationship in the third grade" were filed in November 1797 to allow the marriage of Marguerite and Pierre Thibodeaux, son of Pierre Thibodeau and Francoise Sonnier.[2][3]
The petition was granted, and they were married on 9 January 1798 at Opelousas by Father Pedro de Zamora. Witnesses included Jean Baptiste Richard, Joseph Bourque, and Louis Lavergne.[4]
They had at least 14 children between 1798 and 1835:[5]
Marguerite died before 16 September 1852, when her succession was filed at the Opelousas courthouse.[6]
