Biography

Alphonse Richard was born on 18 July 1889 in Dakota Territory.[1][2] He was the first son of Albert Richard[3][4] and Arthemise Ducharme, and their first child to survive to adulthood. Albert and Arthemise had already lost a set of twins in infancy, and Alphonse's twin sister died the day she was born, before even being named.[1]

Alphonse's family, consisting at the time of Alphonse, his parents, and his 9 living siblings, moved from North Dakota to St. François Xavier, Manitoba, in 1899.[2] In St. François Xavier, they lived on River Lot 163.[5]

On 22 November 1910, in St. François Xavier, Alphonse married Bertha Daigneault.[6] As a young married couple they remained for a while with Alphonse's parents[7] before striking out on their own to Ste. Anne, Manitoba,[8] and later on to St. Boniface, Manitoba.

Alphonse and Bertha had 7 children:

The last place Alphonse lived was 277 Enfield Crescent in Norwood.

Alphonse died at St. Boniface Hospital in St. Boniface, Manitoba, on 9 August 1960, at the age of 71.[9] He is buried next to his wife at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba.[9][10]
