Biography

Thomas may have been born as early as circa 1572 at Pitminster, Somerset, England.[1]

Research Notes

1. FamilySearch - No baptism for Thomas as a child of James and Alice.

2. Original profile had birth year as 1569, with no source cited. Assume this is a calculated date, from the possible marriage to Alice HULINS.

3. Our Royal Titled Noble and Commoner Ancestors, Marlyn Lewis, Portland, OR, does list Thomas as a child of James and Alice BLAKE, but is unsourced.

4. No marriage on FreeREG or family search to Alice HULINS, as at 16/6/16. There is however a Thomas RICHARDS marrying an Alice CHAMBERS in 1598 at High Ham, Somerset. Whilst this seems more likely 2 children, Joan and Thomas were born before this date. (There is some DNA evidence to suggest this may be the same Thomas - see note below. An unmerged match has been added).

5. It seems unlikely that Thomas could have married Alice HULINS in 1585, if he was born sometime between 1572-1580. At best he would have been 13. It is also 9 years before their first child is born in 1594.

6. This Family Search tree indicates that Joan Richards born abt 1594 may be a daughter of the Thomas RICHARDS who married Thomasine. It also suggests Thomas died 1608. This death record seems like it could also fit for this Thomas Richards, given the birth dates of his children.

Richards-1431 and Richards-1218 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and siblings
Richards-7307 and Richards-1218 appear to represent the same person because: Believed to be the same person. Alice/Alicia of the High Ham Parish so marriage took place there. Some DNA evidence emerging, but not yet confirmed.
The direction of the proposed merge for this profile should be reversed. Richards-1218 should be the final profile.
