Ellen was born about 1877 in Darlaston, Staffordshire, England but was baptised on August 27, 1882 at St Stephen, Barbourne, Worcestershire, England. She was the daughter of Robert Richardson and Sarah Ann. At that time, the family was living at Gregory's Mill Cottage and her father's occupation was labourer.[1][2]
She married John Henry Holmes on April 3, 1899 in Barbourne, Worcester, England. They were both 22 years old. His father was William Holmes and hers was R. Richardson. [3][4]
Ellen died at age 83 in June 1960 in Worcester, Worcestershire, England and she was buried at Hindlip (Hindlip with Martin Hussingtree), Worcester. Her abode was 26 Calder Road.[5][6]
