Amos was born in 1700. Amos Richardson ... He passed away in 1779. ^[2]

Amos Richardson, s. of Jonathan Richardson, Sr. and Ann Edwards, b. Dec. 1, 1699 at Stonington, Conn. He was bapt. June 23, 1700 at the Hartford, Conn. 1st Chh., his maternal grandfather's church. He d. at Coventry, Conn. betw. Sept. 18, 1775, the date of his will, and Nov. 25, 1779 when the inventory of his estate was taken.

Jonathan Richardson, Sr., Amos' father, died when Amos was less than one year old. As a young boy Amos resided with his mother and stepfather, William Davenport, first at Hartford, then Stonington, and eventually at Coventry, Conn. The earliest record of Amos as an adult is his purchase of land at Coventry on Oct. 4, 1723 from Capt. Thomas Lasell of Windham, Conn., in which Amos is called "of Coventry." However, on May 2, 1724, Amos deeded his interest in land at Stonington to his older brother Jonathan, in which they are described as "both of Stonington," and Amos a carpenter. The witnesses to the Lasell deed were William and Humphrey Davenport, Amos' stepfather William and younger half-brother Humphrey.

Amos m. Rachel Yarrington circa 1724 probably at Preston, Conn., but no record of the marriage appears in the records. She was the dau. of Peter Yarrington and Abiah Woodward, bapt. Aug. 10, 1707 at Preston. Rachel predeceased her husband, but the date of her death is not of record.

The birth of all 14 of Amos and Rachel's known children are recorded at Coventry, Conn., and all 14 were b. prior to the 1752 conversion from the old Julian to modern Gregorian calendar. Nine of the children have birth dates between Jan. 1 and Mar. 24, but only the youngest child, b. "Mar. 18, 1749-50" has double year dating. On the other hand, eldest son Nathan, recorded with a birth date of "March 20, 1725" and bapt. Sept. 26, 1725 by Rev. Salmon Treat at Preston, Conn. The pre-Mar. 25th birth dates of the eight other children b. under the old Julian calendar with no double year dating must have had the year of their birth converted after 1752 to the Gregorian calendar but without the historical date reference included. In addition, although all 14 children are recorded at Coventry, there is no proof they were actually b. at Coventry.

By 1906 no gravestones for Amos or wife Rachel were known to exist.
