Biography

Barbara was born 10 May 1941 ^[1] to Walter Richardson and Gertrude Cupples in Birmingham. She was the eldest of 6 children

She married Michael Finnerty, they had an 18 month long honeymoon in Ireland and they had 2 children Mark and Karen, sadly the year before Mark was born she miscarried her first child.

She was a great mother and the best grandmother my children could have had, whatever toys they liked or television programmes they were into, when they visited she would always have a little present related to their interests for them.

In 2011 she was diagnosed with cancer of the womb and had a hysterectomy and radiotherapy and thankfully was given the all clear, she was tested regularly for cancer and in December 2012, not long after a cancer test, she started having bad pains in her back gradually moving down her legs, at first we thought it was sciatica or muscle problems, it gradually got worse until she was unable to walk, she was admitted to hospital, and they were unable to diagnose the problem. She was in hospital for about 2 months before they decided to get her cancer records from the neighbouring county, and it took about 2 weeks for them to arrive at the hospital she was in, they then tested her for cancer, by then it was too late as the cancer had returned spreading throughout her bones and lymph nodes, she had radiotherapy again which was unsuccessful, she suffered a stroke and sadly passed away on 3 April 2013, devastating her husband, children and grandchildren ^[2]
