A lengthy illness claimed the life of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Big Mama) Lee at 5:10 p.m. Thursday in a local clinic. She was 91 years old.
Born August 27, 1869 at Gilbert, Mrs. Lee was a member of Lone Cedar Baptist Church, where funeral services took place at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. S. B. Boyette, assisted by the Rev. W.H. Bengtson, officiated. Interment was in New Winnsboro cemetery, Winnsboro.
Mrs. Lee leaves to mourn her: three daughters, Mrs. Jennie Alford, Monroe, Mrs. Hattie Gwin, Winnsboro, and Mrs. Mary Ellen Lambert, Dilly [sic Dilley], Tex.; a son, S. E. Lee, Sr., Winnsboro; a foster son, Travis Adcock, Rayville; 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Richardson, Homestead, Fla.
Pallbearers were Ed Lee, Kirby Lee, Sammie Lambert, Johnnie Lambert, James Alford, John Gwin, Wilson Gwin and Chester Gwin.
