How are you? I'm David a WikiTree Mentor.
Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.
Welcome to Wikitree. There are 117 people collaborating on various branches of the Barnes family. If I can be of assistance, please contact me. If you trace your roots to my Irish immigrant, Brinsley (Barnes-1145) by all means lets connect. I operate a website devoted to Brinsley and Solomon Sr. both of whom migrated to what became Wilkes County, NC in 1777. Solomon arrived in what was then Rowan County in about 1772. Brinsley arrived in Wilkes about 1787. At the time this was Indian Territory. Solomons roots are not known for sure. Some contend that he was English other say Irish. The website also discusses their descendants who migrated to Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri. If your Barnes ancestors have always been in New England, you probably do not descend from Brinsley but for Solomon we cannot make a determination. Please visit the website at
https://CompetitiveStrategies.us.
If you would like to receive no-spam notice on new content added to the site complete the form at
https://competitivestrategies.us/barnes-family/.
If you have DNA tested, I can match you to multiple descendants of both Brinsley and Solomon.
If your Barnes's immigrated to Boston, you and I are from different branches of the Barnes family. I know little about the lines from Massachusetts but my best guess is that they are English not Irish in origin. There are others doing Barnes research here. I recommend that you post a message in G2G2 for heip with that branch of the family.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, which means that all members work together as a single collaborative team. The Honor Code helps keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on one BIG tree.
The initial email from us has links you can use to get started. When you confirm your email address, you'll have an option to volunteer to add information to WikiTree, beginning with tags for your own profile. Tags are surnames, locations, concepts, etc. that you'd like to track.
If you decide to volunteer, a greeter will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add new profiles to the tree.

Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes sources and how to enter sources.
Family Search and Find a Grave are free websites for finding sources:

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
