Stephen Richardson, s. of Amos Richard & Mary Smith, b. June 14, 1652 (bapt. June 20) at Boston, Mass. He d. at Stonington, Conn. betw. July 2, 1694 & Aug. 10, 1694, Æ 45. Stephen has no known place of internment.

In circa 1673, prob. at Hartford, Conn., Stephen m. Lydia Gilbert, dau. of Cornet Jonathan Gilbert & Mary Wells, b. Oct. 3, 1654 at Hartford. She m. 2nd circa 1700 as his 3rd wife, Capt. John Chapman of Saybrook & Haddam, Conn., latter where she d. aft. April 1712.

The children of Stephen Richardson and Lydia Gilbert, all b. or bapt. of record at Stonington, Conn., are:

• i. Jonathan Richardson, bapt. Sept. 10, 1674, d. May 7, 1700 at Stonington, Conn.; m. circa 1697 prob. at Hartford, Conn., Ann Edwards, dau. of Richard Edwards & his 1st wife Elizabeth Tuttle, b. circa 1678 at Hartford. She d. in May 1764 at Coventry, Conn. Ann m. 2) circa 1702 William Davenport, who d. at Coventry, Conn. June 29, 1742, Æ 77.

• ii. Amos Richardson, bapt. June 19, 1681, believed to have died young.

• iii. Mary Richardson, bapt. June 19, 1681; m. Richard Carder in January 1699/00, who was lost at sea in 1707. Three known children of the family.

• iv. Stephen Richardson, Jr., bapt. June 19, 1681, d. at Lebanon, Conn. Aug. 11, 1749; m. 1) Joanna Minor and 2) Mar. 25, 1728 at Newport, RI, Abigail Pelham.

• v. Samuel Richardson, bapt. Mar. 18, 1683/4; d. Apr. 20, 1701, Æ 18. [Rosell Richardson's "The Amos Richardson Family" (1906) misrepresents this Samuel, assigning his brother Lemuel's son Samuel, the husb. of Sarah Stanton at Haddam, Conn., to this Samuel.]

• vi. Rachel Richardson, bapt. May 30, 1686; no further record.

• vii. Lemuel Richardson, bapt. Aug. 12, 1688, d. May 24, 1713 at East Haddam, Conn.; m. Dec. 15, 1708 at Haddam, Conn., his step-sister Mehitabel Chapman, b. Sept. 29, 1688 at Saybrook, Conn. and d. Mar. 10, 1776 at East Haddam, dau. of Capt. John Chapman and his 2nd wife Elizabeth Beament, the former Lemuel's stepfather. Mehitabel m. 2) Mar. 21, 1715/6 at East Haddam, Capt. John Warner, who d. at East Haddam Mar. 17, 1749/50. Three children of the Lemuel Richardson family, only two who grew to maturity.

• viii. Jemima Richardson, bapt. June 19, 1692; m. 1) Mar. 3, 1708/9 at East Haddam, Conn., Green Hungerford, who d. at East Haddam Oct. 7, 1735, son of Thomas Hungerford and Mary Graves. Thirteen children of record. Jemima m. 2) Apr. 16, 1741 at East Haddam as the 2nd of his three wives, Matthias Fuller, b. at East Haddam Mar. 24, 1700/1 (bapt. Nov. 10, 1704) and d. there bef. Oct. 11, 1768, s. of Timothy Fuller (Lieut. Samuel3, Dr. Matthew2, Edward1 of the Mayflower) and Sarah Gates of East Haddam. There are no known children by Jemima's 2nd marriage.
