Biography

Daniel Richardson was born to Joseph and Margaret (Godfrey) Richardson, April 4, 1692 in Newbury, Massachusetts.[1]

Daniel married Sarah Pottle, February 5, 1723, in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire.[2][3] Daniel's children were all with Sarah.

Daniel and Sarah had five children, born in Newbury, Massachusetts:[3][4]

  • Christopher, b 1724
  • Hannah, b 1726
  • Daniel, b 1730
  • Sarah, b 1733
  • Stephen, b 1737

Daniel married second, widow Lydia (Brown) Mireck, July 27, 1761, in Newbury, Massachusetts.[5]

On May 4, Daniel sold his property in Methuen, approximately 52 acres with a house and barn, to Jonathan Noyes of Newbury for 160 pounds.[6] Thereafter, it seems likely that he lodged with his son Stephen across the town and county line in Dracut, Middlesex County and died there.

Daniel died in 1774, prior to November 17. His will was filed in the Middlesex County Probate office, but is missing from the docket.[1]

Research Notes

Although there is a marriage record between Daniel Richardson and Sarah Pottle in 1723 in Hampton Falls, which is about 25 miles away; is it the correct Daniel? The Richardson Memorial... has shows only a wife Lydia ______.[1]

Daniel's father, Joseph, was a cordwainer.[7] Sarah's father, Christopher, was a tanner[8]. Daniel's brother Thomas married Sarah's sister Hannah.[9]
