Biography

Date of birth shown is actually the date of his baptism. His parents are listed as Richard and Ann Richardson on the baptismal record. [1]

In 1686, while in Henrico County he was "aged 38" in a court deposition.[2]

He first married Anne Sewell on 15 Jan 1669 at All Saints, Stamford, Licolnshire, England. [3]

Henrico County, Virginia Deeds 1677-1705 Book page 34, Deed Book page 379. “30 July in 2nd year of reign of King James II, Maj. Henrico Order Book 1701 gives Elizabeth Branch Richardson, wife as Administrator of his will. Question about a possible son named John Richardson being born to them. He died in 1753, Cumberland County and was married to Mary Curd (d of Edward Curd). (This is their son John b 1700 d 1753)

Town of Bermuda, Pride's Lot: "Melchiz" Melchizedek Richardson & wife, Elizabeth Branch owned a lot in the Pride's Lot community in 1715. (The lot must have been owned by his wife, Elizabeth as he was then deceased.) Taken from the Virginians:"Family of John Pritchett"; In the era of the life of relative William Pritchett, 1650-1723." [5] Note: The Bermuda Hundred was named after Bermuda and was a settlement near Henrico, Virginia. [6]

Allan, what leads you to think that Melchizedek was born in Virginia? I located a parish record for his baptism in Bytham Castle, Lincolnshire, England: 26 Dec 1647; parents Richard and Ann. Also located births of his siblings: Bathshna 19 Feb 1654; Cumdalyna 7 May 1650. Also located a marriage record for him on 15 Jan 1669 at All Saints, Stamford, Lincolnshire, England, to Anne Sewell. So Elizabeth Branch would be his second wife . . .
