Biography

Ewell Richey was born about 1815 in Louisiana[1][2] to Ewell Joel Richey and Rebecca Roberts.[citation needed]

He appears on the 1840 census of Rapides Parish, Louisiana with the following household members:

males)10-15:2 ; 15-20:1 ; 50-60:1
females)5-10:2 ; 50-60:1
no slaves[3]

He was the constable on the 1850 United States Federal census,[1] but he is not listed with his wife and family in 1860 and he is listed as being in jail on another sheet.[citation needed]

Ewell married Rebecca[1][2] "Becky" Ellis[4] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. Elizabeth Richey was born about 1836 in Louisiana.[1]
  2. David Richey was born about 1842 in Louisiana.[1]
  3. Eveline Richey was born about 1844 in Louisiana.[1]
  4. Wade R. Richey was born about 1846 in Louisiana.[1]
  5. James Richey was born about 1847 in Louisiana.[1] He died 03 May 1920 in Boyce, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.[4]
  6. Green Richey was born about 1850 in Louisiana.[1]

Ewell served as a private in Company I of the 8th Louisiana Regiment in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War.[5]

Ewell died sometime after 3 June 1880 when he was last seen on the Census.

Richey-1313 and Richey-1131 appear to represent the same person because: Defenitely a match. I was new when I downloaded my tree. I am reviewing all my inputs to see if there are matches.
