Biography

When Alexander B III RITCHIE was born on June 29, 1764, in Farmville, Virginia, to Alexander Ritchie, and Mary Wilson. He married Mary Elizabeth Doherty on May 29, 1792. He died on November 14, 1848, in New Tazewell, Tennessee, having lived a long life of 84 years.

Alexander was born in 1764, reportedly in Amelia, Prince Edward Co., Virginia. Also reportedly, at the age of 12, he enlisted in the service of his country in the Revolutionary War, serving by one source as some sort of "scout" and by another as a drummer and bugler. He likely accompanied his parents, Alexander II and Mary Wilson, to Claiborne Co., Tennessee in early 1800's as early pioneers of what was then a part of western North Carolina. He inherited the farm established by his father at his father's death in 1818. The farm remains as one of Tennessee's finest Century Farms today.

Richey-148 and Ritchie-3035 appear to represent the same person because: propose merge of Alex R III Richey 148 and Alex R 3rd Ritchie 3035. Then I will add rest of children. My info comes from old Ritchie Bibles still in hands of various Ritchie family members. (Just a note: They also list folks with Richey spelling.)
Ritchie-674 and Richey-148 appear to represent the same person because: Only difference is the spelling of "Richie" and "Richey"
