Re: Descendants of Alexander Richey and Jeanne Caldwell Richey, By Keith Richey July 26, 2012 at 12:46:33 In reply to: Descendants of Alexander Richey and Jeanne Caldwell Richey:

"I too am a Keith Richey who is descended from Alexander Richey and Jeanne (Jane?) Caldwell. Below is what I have been able to piece together about my line from that Alexander Richey to my son, Alexander Richey":

  1. JAMES RITCHIE Born 1650 -- Glascow, Scotland. His was the father of:
  2. SAMUEL RICHEY was born 1668 in Scotland, and died in Scotland? about 1739. He married LYDIA MOORE.
  3. ALEXANDER RICHEY, b. Abt. 1700, County Derry, Ireland; d. 18 August, 1749, Amelia Co., Virginia. ALEXANDER RICHEY OR RITCHIE was born 1698? in County Derry, Ireland, and died 18 August, 1749 in Amelia Co., Virginia. He married JEANNE (OR JANE) CALDWELL 1724 in Ireland, daughter of JOSEPH CALDWELL and ELIZABETH MCGEE OR MCGHIE.

Alexander Samuel Richey was born ABT 1690 in Deverny, Ireland, and died 18 August 1749 in Farmville, Prince Edward County, Virginia. He married Jeanne Jane Caldwell in 1718, of Northern Ireland, a daughter of Joseph Caldwell and Jane McGhee. She was born ABT 1688 in Lifford Parrish, Ballyoogan, County Donegal, Ireland and died August 1785 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. In 1718, a group of Scotch citizens living in the north of Ireland (today’s Northern Ireland) addressed a memorial letter to the Governor of New England in the form of a petition for encouragement to come to America. In the list of 309 signers occur the names of Alexander Richey, Francis Ritchie, also the names of John Caldwell, and many other familiar Scotch-Irish surnames. Alexander Richey (Ritchie) was our pioneer ancestor and his wife Jane was a sister of John Caldwell. It is the Richey family and their descendants I am interested in. If you can put me on the trusted list for that family, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dick
