Biography

"In 1788 Charles Ritchie died in Prince Edward County leaving a Will. His heirs were wife, Mary; daughter Mary Elizabeth and sons Christian Hamilton and Hugh; a grandson Charles Ritchie, the son of Hugh Ritchie. Executor, wife Mary. Test: R. Foster, Andrew Elliott, and Wiltshire Caldwell. His last Will was dated March 24, 1788. The inventory of this estate of Chas. Ritchie was dated April 19, 1794, presented by Mary Ritchie, Executor.</p> "A last Will of Mary (Elizabeth) Ritchie dated February 11, 1794, daughter of Charles and Mary Ritchie, shows that she died unmarried."
