Biography

Drury Hearn Ricketts married 13 Aug 1833 in Henderson County, Tennessee to Judia Jones at the home of her parents, Phillip and Elizabeth (Wingate) Jones. The ceremony was performed by Charles Austin, Justice of the Peace, and witnessed by Ebenezer Lee, nephew of Drury Ricketts (affidavit).[1]

Research Notes

  • Drury and his family continue to live in Tishomingo County, Mississippi at the time of the 1860 Census; however, the information about his wife, Judia (a.k.a. Judith, Jordan) is inconsistent between 1850 and 1860. In 1850, she is shown to be 20 years younger than Drury,[2] but in 1860, they are shown to be the same age.[3] This could be due to an unreliable source for the information on either of the censuses, e.g., a neighbor. -- Fiscus-32 13:40, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
    • Judea's profile gives additional information about her marriage to Drury. She was his second wife, and it appears that the information on the 1860 Census is incorrect. -- Fiscus-32 13:44, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
  • His grave marker was acquired by James Walter Ricketts and placed by Hoyle Lambert. The dates are from a letter written by his wife Judia Jones Ricketts and confirmed by his military records. His grave was marked only by a field stone for 143 years. Grave location was passed down from his great-grandson, Dalton Ricketts to James Walter Ricketts.[4]

Ricketts-2105 and Ricketts-348 appear to represent the same person because: Ricketts-2105 is intended to represent Drury Hearns Ricketts, and the connection to Abraham Greene Ricketts is still being worked out, but there is DNA evidence to support the connection.

Abraham would be the son of Drury's first wife.

Ricketts-1511 and Ricketts-348 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same person. Created new one by accident with new information, please merge.
