John, born in 1849, was the son of John Riddell.[1][2]
During the census of 1881 John was living with his wife Sarah I b.1846 in Bloomsbury, Middlesex, daughter Olive b.1878 in Kensington. Middlesex son Walter b.1880 in St George Hanover Square, Middlesex and five servants.[3]
He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) Northumberland. He was the 11th Baronet [U.K. Life Peer]. In 1897 barrister, High Sheriff Northumberland.

Sir John Walter Buchanan Riddell, 11th Bt. was born on 14 March 1849 at Harrietsham, Kent, England. He was the son of Reverend John Charles Riddell and Frances Sophia Cholmondeley. He married Sarah Isabella Wharton, daughter of Robert Wharton, on 4 August 1874. He died on 31 October 1924 at age 75. He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1872 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1874 entitled to practice as a barrister. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northumberland. He succeeded as the 11th Baronet Riddell, of Riddell, co. Roxburgh [N.S., 1628] on 27 August 1892. He held the office of High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1897. He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1899 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)
