Capt. Richard Riddle was born about 1750 in Virginia. He later settled in Chatham County, North Carolina. Richard is listed on the 1800 census for Hillsborough, Chatham County, NC, 1810 and 1820 census for Chatham County, NC. He was married to unknown Stewart and later to Rachael Horsee. Richard deeded property to his daughter Mary Riddle Poe and grandson Jackson Poe in Chatham County. Later after his death his wife Rachael Horsee Riddle sold more property in Chatham County. Richard was a captain in the American Army Revolution. His death was after 1820 in the Chatham area. Burial location is unknown at this time.
