Biography

Abigail Ridgway, daughter of Richard Ridgway and Abigail Stockton, was granted permission to marry Henry Clothier on the 5th day of the 11th month of 1717 (5 Jan 1718 on the modern calendar).

Research Notes

In the wills of Abigail's parents,^[1] no mention is made of Abigail among the couple's children. Her mother's 1726 will does mention grandchildren James and Mary Clothier, presumably Abigail's children by Henry Clothier. Abigail's father's 1722 will mentions son-in-law Henry Clothier. These mentions seem sufficient to warrant the conclusion that Abigail had died prior to the signing of the 1722 will but after having given birth to two children.
