Biography

Edith (Ridley) Foster was born in Yorkshire, England.

Edith was born in Addingham, Yorkshire, England. She was the first, of eight children, born to Matthew Ridley, and Grace Steele. Edith resided with her parents, and siblings, through at least 1891. She is listed as a niece in the 1901 census of England, residing in Halifax, West Riding.

Edith returned to Addingham sometime before 1906. She married Arthur Foster on April 16, 1906, in Addingham, at Saint Peter Church. The couple would have two children.

Arthur died of wounds during his service in the British Army in 1917. Edith never remarried. Edith passed away in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, in 1945.
