Biography

Johann Peter was the son of Friedrich Ries from Allenbach. His birth date is estimated. On 19 Jun 1770 Johann Peter married Anna Maria Scholl, daughter of Johann Heinrich Scholl and Elisabetha Dorothea Müller from Krughütte. Her parenthood is disputed, though, see FB Gersweiler. They had two children, born 1771 in Drahtzug/Saarbrücken and born in 1773 in Ziegelhof.

Ries committed a crime in connection with gold coins and was sentenced to work on a galley, for life.

Anna Maria married again, first Gr. Jacob Stötzer in 1776 and secondly to Grenadier Konrad Kümmel in 1785. See lutherian church books of Pirmasens.
