Biography

Elizabeth was born in1725 in Anne Arundel, Maryland. [1] The following description was found on the cited source. (The birth and death dates vary from what was originally reported on this profile.): "When Elizabeth Riggs was born in 1725, in Anne Arundel, Maryland, British Colonial America, her father, Greenberry Riggs Jr., was 26 and her mother, Ruth Summers, was 25. She married Amos Gaither about 1746, in Anne Arundel, Maryland, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. She lived in Anne Arundel, Maryland, United States for about 10 years. She died after about July 1801, in Frederick, Maryland, United States." [2] Some records have said she died in 1779.

Research Notes

I do not know where the original birth and death dates came from. They conflict with what I have recently found. My cousin and I (marguerite brown) show a DNA match to Elizabeth and her parents, but I cannot find data for her immediate family. Her name appears as Orlando's wife and the daughter of Ruth Summers and Greenberry Riggs in a number of trees, but the sources can no longer be accessed. I have wondered if she and Elizabeth Gaither, named as another wife of Orlando, are the same person, but I do not show as a DNA match to this other Elizabeth.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
