Frank Edward Riggs was born in about 1867,[1] probably in Louisiana.[2]
Frank lived in Louisiana[3] and subsequently lived in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.[4] By 1910, Frank had moved back south--this time to Hancock County, Mississippi,[5] which occupied the southern most tip of Mississippi, bordering the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana on the south and west.[6] His wife, Kate, and sons, Benjamin E. and Eugene, also lived there.[5] By 1920, Frank and his family had settled in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.[7]
Frank worked as a sawmill engineer in Hancock County around 1910.[5]
By 1920, Frank moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he owned a home and worked on a farm.[7] He and Kate lived there with Benny and Eugene, as well as their additional children: Thelma, Frank Earl or "Franklin", and Daniel.[7][8] By 1930, his profession was listed as "Paper Hanger" in the housing industry.[9] By 1940, at the age of 73, Frank was no longer employed.[8]
Frank died on September 8, 1866 and was buried in Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA.[10]
↑ The 1870 census estimates his birth year as 1866-1867 and lists him as 3 years old at the time of the census. In the 1880 census and 1940 census, his birth year is estimated at 1867. Thus, 1867 seems probable. The 1910 and 1920 censuses list 1863 and 1869, which seem less likely.
↑ Birthplace is listed as Louisiana in the 1870, 1880, 1920, and 1940 census data. The 1910 census lists Ohio, which was the birthplace of his mother.
