Sarah was born about 3 May 1674 in Derby, New Haven, Connecticut [1][2] to Samuel Riggs and Sarah Baldwin; and was christened on 16 June 1674. Sarah was married to Jonathan Lum on 10 October 1700 in Derby, Connecticut.[3][4] She died about 1744 in Derby. Conn[5].
Note:There is conflicting information on Sarah's birth date between sources.
There is a poorly transcribed baptismal record.[8]. This is likely the source that Early Families of Milford, on page 621 cites "Sarah - bpt. 14 June 1674..."[9]
The Barbour Collection for the town of Derby, CT, page 284 has two listings for a Sarah, daughter of Samuel: 1) Sarah, d Samuel b. Jan. 1672; d. Jan. 1672, and 2) ___ ah, d. Samuel b. Feb. 24, 1683. This source indicates that there may have been two daughters. A daughter Sarah who was born and died in 1672, a Sarah, dau. Samuel, b. "3", and ...ah, dau. of Samuel who was born in 1683 (may be Hannah)[10] This is probably the source for the birth date in the Lum genealogy, "Sarah Riggs, b. Feb. 24, 1683."[7],
