William is shown as being born in Ontario and 15 years old in 1871 while is older brother John (19) is shown as being born in England. This suggests that the family arrived in Canada between 1852 and 1856 however new information shows that this is not correct and that William was born in England and baptized with his brother Thomas on September 2nd 1860 probably in preparation for the move to Canada. Also, they show up in the English census of 1861 with Blackburn as a baby. This suggests that they did not leave for Canada until at least 1861.
