Obituary

On July 7, 1931 at his home 1639 North Broadway, William Thomas Riley, M.D. beloved husband of Lottie Wagner Riley.

Funeral from the above residence on Friday, July 10, at 8:30 A.M. Requiem Mass at St. Paul's Church Caroline and Oliver streets, at 9 AM. Interment in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Dr. Riley, who was 60, was coroner of the Central district, and had held a similar post either there or in the Eastern district for thirty years. He also was chief surgeon in the welfare department, United Railways; surgeon for the Pennsylvania and Western Maryland Railroads, medical examiner for two life insurance companies and president of the Washington and Lafayette Building Association.

He had been associated with the United Railways for thirty years and had held the presidency of the buidling association more than twenty years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dr. Riley received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons when he was 18. After his graduation he returned to Loyola College, where he had studied earlier, and obtained bachelor and master of arts degrees. He was an intern first at the old Bay View Hospital and later at St. Joseph's Hospital. During the last thirty years he had been chairman of the house committee at the later hospital.

Dr. Riley is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lotta Wagner Riley; a son, Wagner M. Riley; a daughter, Sister Mary of the Blessed Sacrament, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua T. Riley. [1]
