Mary Riley was the daughter of Henry Riley and Mary Cline Riley. Her siblings were Joseph, John, Jacob, Henry Cossett, Sarah, and Ada Riley. She married Reece Malott October 8, 1877, after the death of his first wife Mary Ann Hunt. After Reece Malott passed away, Mary lived with her sister Ada Riley McManus. She died in Pittsford, Butler, Iowa.

Note: Relative Elaine Blackmer has reported that Ada Riley was the daughter of Mary Riley and an unknown father. Ada shows in census records as a sister to Mary but family members believe Ada to have been the daughter of Mary
