James Ritchie was born on 29 October[1] and baptised 05 November 1752 in Stevenston, Ayrshire, Scotland, the son of James Ritchie and his wife Susan Niven.[2]
Children
claimed John no doubt an error -not from same place and born before marriage or Banns of claimed parents-27 Nov 1778 Stevenston [3]--the rest of the family seems to have all been only living in Stevenston so see no reason they would have a son born 2 years before the marriage that was born and died in Dumfriesshire.
