Descendant of Jacob Ruetschie (abt.1724-abt.1800), a Revolutionary War Patriot.
Earnest Theophilus Ritchie was born on February 20, 1882 in Stanly Co., North Carolina, United States, son of James Albert Ritchie (1853–1929) and Margaret Elizabeth Moose (1860–1924).
Earnest (27) married Rose Bell Smith (22) (born on September 6, 1887 in Cabarrus County, NC) on December 12, 1909. Their children were:
- Glen Elmo Ritchie (1911–1970)
- Hal Woodrow Ritchie (1914–1984)
- Edith Marie Ritchie (1916–2005)
- James Francis Ritchie (1928–2006)
Earnest died on August 25, 1959 in Richfield, North Carolina, aged 77.[1]
