Frederick Rivers

Frederick Rivers was paid for 36 days of service. There is on record in the State Historical Commission Office, Columbia, SC a receipt signed by Frederick Rivers for two pounds, eleven shillings, and five pence sterling for 36 days in the militia in 1782 as per account No. 126068. He has a Revolutionary War grave marker and is buried in the Old Rivers Graveyard in Chesterfield County, SC. <Thanks to Charles Purvis @ website "Carolina Roots" http://www.geocities.com/gmanpurvis/tomd.htm#Fred> [CMB note 10/2013: that geocities page is no longer available.) He married Sarah Purvis. [1]


Frederick Rivers was born in 1740, in England. Frederick served as a Private, during the American Revolutionary War and died February 20, 1820, in Chesterfield, South Carolina. Frederick is honored for his military service as DAR Ancestor #A096507. DAR records indicate that Frederick's wife's name was Mary Boatwright. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their daughter, Nancy Rivers, who married Thomas Davis; and of their son, Frederick Rivers, Jr. who married Sara Ann Hurst. Disambiguation: Frederick Rivers, son of Son of William Rivers and Temple (Dempsey) Rivers, of England is not the same Frederick Rivers, born in 1739, in Craven county, South Carolina and died in 1810, in Cheraws District (Chesterfield county) South Carolina. He married Sarah Purvis. These two profiles were merged together on February 4, 2019. Rivers-1618 was the original profile for the duplicate profile.

Both Fredericks, who died ten years apart in Chesterfield, South Carolina, had a son named Frederick. THIS Frederick's son married Sarah Ann Hurst Rivers

The previous bad merge has conflated two families. This is not the Frederick Rivers that married Sarah Hurst. Frederick C Rivers who is attached as a son on this profile married Sarah Hurst. He was the son of Isaac Rivers and Nancy Unknown. I am going to detach Frederick C Rivers. There is a duplicate for his son Frederick Rivers Jr so I am going to propose a merge for those.
