He was a stone mason 30 years old & illiterate (ships manifest shows he signed X). He served his indenture by building fortifications on George's Island in Halifax Harbour then moved to Lunenberg & later to the Sable River region.

ABRAHAM2 ROBERT (ISAAC1) died October 02, 1799 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, CANADA. He married ELISABETH CATHERINE LODS March 31, 1750 in Brevilliers, Montbeliard, France.

Notes for ABRAHAM ROBERT: He was a mason who, at the age of thirty, came to Halifax on the Speedwell with his wife and infant daughter. On the 22 July 1752, they arrived in Halifax indebted for 151.14.0. He had to work off his debt of passage on the fortification of George's Island in Halifax Harbour before leaving for Lunenburg on 15 June 1753. He and his family lived on a thirty acre lot assigned to him before he left Halifax (north-west range, lot B-54).

He received livestock in 1754 - one cow and one sheep, which he had to share with his neighbour. In 1756 he went on a cattle expedition to retrieve abondoned livestock leftover from the expulsion of the Acadians one year earlier in 1755.

Passport of 1752

The bourgeois masters of the city of Hericourt certify to whom it may concern that George Frederich Bailly, Jean Jacque Grossenaud and Jean George Lods, all born in this city, and Abram Robere, born in Brevilliers, a village belonging to the seigneurial lands, have all, since birth, practiced in the religion of the Augsburg Confession, still practice it today and still perform its rituals. They have always behaved as honest people, and that they have been worthy of the right to bear arms. They have come and testified before us that they want to remove themselves with their families, that is to say the said G. Baily, J. Grossenaud and A. Robere, and the said J. Lods being a Boy, in order to settle elsewhere.

They have requested from us the present certificate that we have granted them in order to bear witness to the truth. We beg all those that they will address to let them go back and forth without any impediment and to give them assistance, if needs be, without a promise of reciprocity. Further they have requested from us, in response to a further request on them, that we certify that there are no contagious diseases in our city, which the stamp in the margin attests to.

Having all papers and stamps in order added to our present certificate, and having been signed by our secretary, we had the seal with the arms of our city affixed to it. Done in our cit y hall, the 11 April 1752.

J. F. Bovon, Secretary.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:

Abraham had 2 wives, Elizabeth and Catherine. He married Catherine in 1750 so his older children (Elizabeth Catherine anyways) must not be hers.
