Biography

Born on 22 January 1835, Jessie was not baptised in infancy. The explanation in the Abbotshall Parish Register was due to her parents being Baptists. Jessie was later baptised in June 1852. After her parents died, Jessie was living with her maternal parents, George and Janet Henderson at 86 Quality Street, Abbotshall, Fife, Scotland. In the 1851 census, Jessie's occupation is dressmaker. Her brother, John, was living at 89 Quality Street, with their uncle, David Henderson.
