Biography
Huldah was born in 1827. She is the daughter of William Robbins and Emily Barnard. She passed away in 1917. [1]
Obituary May 1917
"Mrs. Huldie (Huldah) Stevens, the oldest resident of Boylston, died on Tuesday morning, May 29th, aged 90 years. For over a third of a century she had made her home there most of the time with her son William, for whom she was housekeeper until she was taken ill some four months ago and who gave her the most tender care during this illness. Her children and grandchildren to the 5th generation respected her for her womanly qualities and none ever heard her complain or find fault with those about her. She was born January 1st, 1827 at Alexandria Bay. In 1845 she was married to Alvin Stevens, who died in 1880. To this union were born eight children, five whom survive. Mrs. Mary Stowell, Allen and Rufus Stevens of Orwell, William Stevens and Mrs. Etta Cummins of Boylston. The funeral was held at the family home Friday, Rev. Walter Clement officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Orwell. It will be recalled that her daughter, Mrs. Dunbar, died three weeks ago and that she was taken ill while on her way to visit her mother. Before the death of Mr. Stevens, the family resided in Lorraine for a decade and later in Mexico." (Note on side states married at age 18.)
