DISCREPANCIES

U.S., Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1935 state that he was born 21 Jan 1706-1707. A birth date of 21 Jan 1706 would conflict with the birth date of his sister, Elizabeth, who was born 22 Nov 1705. The Colonial Families of the USA, 1607-1775 states he was born 21st November, 1706-7.

U.S., Quaker Meeting Records, 1681-1935 state that he was born in Columbiana County, Ohio. The meeting took place in Columbiana County, Ohio. But, according to "THE QUAKER SETTLEMENT OF OHIO", Quakers did not begin moving into Ohio until 1796.

Patriarchs, Hugh and Jane (Owen) Roberts, came from Wales and settled in Pennsylvania. They were Quakers, and friends of William Penn. Their son, Edward, was a mayor of Philadelphia. Their son, Owen, was a Sheriff of Philadelphia County. Their granddaughter, Jane, married William Fishbourne, who also was a mayor of Philadelphia. Their granddaughter, Susannah, married Dr. Thomas Bond, who was a good friend of Benjamin Franklin. Bond and Franklin founded Penn Hospital, the nations first hospital.

Colonial Families of the USA, 1607-1775 Volume 1, Page 435 states that "Hugh emigrated to Pennsylvania with his widowed mother, Elizabeth Roberts, who d. in 1699, in Merion Township, Pa; was a member of the Provincial Council of Pennsylvania and a prominent member of the Society of Friends; he m. (firstly) Jane, dau. of Owen ap Evan of Fron Goch of Llyn, a descendant of Traham Goch ap Madoc, who was descended from the Prince of South Wales, being a grandson of Rhys Glaff, the lame Lord of Cynrytmaen. She came to Pennsylvania with her husband in 1683, and d. in Merion, Pa; m. (secondly) 31 May 1683, at Llwyng Braner Meeting, Penllyn, Merionthshire, Wales, Elizabeth John, during one of his visits to Wales; she d. s.p.

This profile seems to mix two Richard Roberts together. One that was born in Maryland in 1706 and married Elizabeth Allen [1] and one that was born in VA in 1710 and married Elizabeth Montgomery [2]. How do we get this reconciled?

18 JUN 1756 Davis Creek, Granville Co., NC - Son-in-law William Wharton helped survey land for Richard Roberts.

10 AUG 1771 Granville Co., NC - Court Minutes - Richard Roberts to Son-in-law William Whoton - Deed Book I page 242 1772 - Richard Roberts died. In his will dated April 17, 1772 (prob, May Court, 1772), Richard left most of his land along Cub Creek in Orange County and possessions to his sons and daughters. He left to his daughter, Jane Whorton, one bed and furniture. The will was witnessed by William Chandler and Britain Johnston. It's not clear what happed to other items: "One still, a parsil of books and 2 Negroes. However Richard did leave his son Joseph "one iron pot with a nick broke in the top of the brim".
