Edward was born on 8th March 1872 at Farrell St, Kells, Co. Meath. He is the son of Patrick Tormey (a carpenter) and Mary Connor. [1]
Edward was a carpenter by trade, like his father.
He married Elizabeth (Lizzie) Daly in Ballinahowen chapel, Moate, Co. Westmeath on 17 April 1899. [2]
In 1901, Edward and his wife Lizzie and seven-month old son Francis were living in Summerhill, Dublin. [3]
In 1911, Edward and Lizzie were living at Scotch Parade, Athlone, with six children. [4] The record states that seven children had been born, and all seven were still living, so their eldest child, Francis, was clearly somewhere else at the time of the census.
Edward died on 12 Feb 1955 at Annesley Avenue, North Dublin. [5]. He was 83 years old.
