Biography

Mary was born in 1832. Mary Roberts ... She passed away in 1855.

We find Mary Ann Roberts in the death record of Thomas W. Knowles b 1851-53 s/o Thomas A. Knowles. The Parker_Brady_Zimmerman ancestry tree also lists her as mother of Thomas W Knowles. [1]

We also find Mary Ann Roberts in the US Census of 1850 when she lived in the household of (her father?) Benjamin Roberts b 1807 Bahamas. The dress was not given.

The Roberts Household in 1850:

The Roberts Household in 1860:

Mary was completely absent from the US Census of 1860 but the household of the same Benjamin Roberts lived next door to the household of Thomas A Knowles, now married to Catherine Knowles. Her son, the above mentioned Thomas W. Knowles b 1851-53 lived with his father Tomas A. and Catherine Knowles.

Benjamin was widowed and living in Key West, Monroe County, Florida. His son, Richard, and Robert and Caroline French were living with him.

Richard Roberts b 1840 Bahama Islands

Robert French b. 1837 New York

Caroline French b 1837 Bahama Islands

NB. We know that Benjamin married Charlotte Russell because he and his wife were mentioned in the death record of their son, Richard, in 1918.

Peter, the Dolly Mae shows a marriage record for Benjamin Roberts and Charlotte Russell in 1820, but it further states Benjamin died in 1825, so the children would not have been his or there is another Benjamin Roberts who married a Charlotte Russell. Have you found any further documentation to clarify this issue?
