Biography

Sarah Roberts was born to John Roberts and Martha. "Sarah wife of Daniel Russell" is named in her father John Roberts' Will.

Sarah was born about 1770. She is the oldest daughter, perhaps oldest child, of John Roberts and Martha Unknown.

(Date of 1790 for John Roberts's will is not correct. In all likelihood that date of 1790 has to be later since his daughter Sarah did not marry Daniel Russell until 1796 so the correct date of the will is after that date. It is possible that the transcribed date is 1798 with the 8 being mistaken for a 0. The following transcription of the will is different than one I had previously seen. M McClintock)

JOHN ROBERTS OF HARBOUR ISLAND, ELEUTHERA, SHIP CARPENTER Dated 15 January 1790

"I John Roberts of the said Island Ship Carpenter being of sound mind and understanding Blessed be God Do this fifteenth day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred And ninety make and Publish this my Last Will and ----- Testament in manner following:

After all my Just Debts and Funeral expenses be ... discharged I give and bequeath unto my children (to viz) SARAH wife of Daniel Russell, JOHN Roberts, RICHARD Roberts, MOSES Roberts, and ELIZABETH Roberts, my house Wherein I dwell and the Land belonging thereto, a Tract Of Land at the High Land and one seventh part of a Tract of Land at Abaco from the Rock to the Thurstons...

Is there any information on when Daniel Russell died or whether Sarah immigrated to the United States? If so, I may have found her on a Passenger List.
