Caroline Cora appears on the 1861 Census of England diminutively as ‘Carrie', and on the 1871 Census of England as 'Carry' (see below). Further, Caroline appears to have been a family name. Caroline Cora's mother Ann COOMBER had a sister named Caroline (see the profile for Ann Amelia Elizabeth COOMBER). By the time of Caroline Cora's marriage in 1875 (see note 3), she was no longer using her first given name, choosing to refer to herself simply as Cora, which she would continue to do for the remainder of her life (see note 4, and the 1881 through 1901 census returns of England shown below).
