Sarah Roberts was born at Cowfold in Sussex in 1708, the daughter of John Roberts of Welches (which around this time became known as Long House), and his wife, Sarah Bennett. She was baptised at St Peter, Cowfold on the 28th of May that year. [1]
Sarah married Nicholas West of Shermanbury (about 4 miles away) at St Peter on the 10th of April 1729. [2] He was son of Nicolas West and his wife, Hannah Denman.
Their first child, John, was baptised at Shermanbury on the 14th of June 1730 and died on the 27th of September that year. [3]They had at least four more children. John was born and died in 1730, William born 1731 and another John born 1739. All three boys were born in Shermanbury but two girls, Sarah 1745 and Mary 1747 were born in Cowfold. [4]
Sarah died in 1758 aged 50 and was buried at St Peter, Cowfold on the 16th of October. [5]
