Biography

Gwen and her sister, Katharine, were close and remained so throughout their lives. The relationship with their brother, Owen, was more distant, partly on account of the large age difference but also geography as Katharine, (and possibly Gwen) was sent back to school in England and probably didn't return to Mauritius for most of her teenage years. She spent school holidays at the vicarage in Cromwell.

Gwen married Herbert Jarrett-Kerr (Army officer). Their children: Alfred (Army, Royal Engineers), William (entered an Anglican monastic community), Father Martin Jarrett-Kerr, Henrietta (Owen calls her Hattie, I always knew her as Hetty, her husband died young), Charles (Army, Royal Engineers).
