Must have been born around 1500 given second son John born 1521-1525.
Research note
There has long been the suggestion that John Roberts of Burway in Shropshire was the same person as the John Roberts who obtained the lease of the property called Welches at Cowfold in Sussex for the rent of a rose. So far no evidence has been found.
The suggestion has gone on to assert that his son, Thomas Roberts of Bristol, is the same person as Thomas Roberts of Cowfold. Conveniently the Visitation of Shropshire has nothing to say about Thomas apart from his parentage. [1] However the Visitation of Gloucester supplies Thomas with a wife, Alice Crickland, and a life in Bristol.[2]
Until evidence is provided it is assumed that the Roberts of Burway in Shropshire are not the same family as the Roberts of Cowfold in Sussex.
