Elizabeth Roberts was reportedly born on 31 Oct 1704. She was baptized on 1 Nov 1704, at St Lawrence's Church, in Weston Underwood, Buckinghamshire, England. Her parents were Edward Roberts and Elizabeth Mills. [1]
On 25 Sep 1733, Elizabeth married Aquilla Blackburn, a widower, possibly with young children, from the nearby town of Olney, in Buckinghamshire [2]. Aquila was around 31 years old and Elizabeth would have been about 29 years of age when they married. Aquilla appears to have been related to the Blackburn family from around Leeds in Yorkshire, and he may have been born in that area.
Aquilla's previous wife was Sarah Gathert, who he married in 1723, in Olney. Aquilla and Sarah had 4 known children; Ann (b.1725), John Goddard (b.1726), Sarah (b.1728, who died in infancy), and another daughter named Sarah (b.1729). If they were living, Ann might have been about 8 years old, John around 7, and Sarah about 4 years old when their father remarried.
Elizabeth and Aquilla added five more known children to their family. Their first two, sons William born in 1734, and Charles born in 1736, were christened in Olney. Daughters, Mary born 1739, Priscilla born 1741, and Elizabeth born 1744, were all christened at Wakefield, in Yorkshire.
Aquilla is believed to have died sometime around 1775.
Elizabeth died in 1781 when she was around 76 years of age. She was buried on 12 Jul 1781, at the All Saints Cathedral (Anglican), in Wakefield.[3][4]
