Biography

Oriett was born 9 October 1895 in Key West, Florida.[1] She was the daughter of William Thomas Roberts and Amelia Elizabeth Bartlum.

She married first Carl Clio Jordan on 14 March 1914 in Tarpon Springs, Florida, in a ceremony performed by A. J. Compton, Clergyman.[2] The witnesses were Mrs. A. J. Compton and Miss Ivah Youngblood. Carl and Oriett divorced in 1932 in Pinellas County.[3]

She apparently married second Harry DeWight Billingham on 28 February 1932 in Tampa, Florida.[4] They announced their marriage in the newspaper five months after it took place. There is no record that they obtained a license in either Hillsborough or Pinellas County. There is no entry for them in the Florida Divorce Index. If they were actually married, it did not last long; they were certainly divorced by 1937 when Harry married his second wife.[5] Oriett used the Jordan surname when she lived in Washington, D.C., in 1940.[6]

She married third A. M. LaGrange sometime between her appearance in the 1940 census and her mention in the 1949 obituary of her brother George as Mrs. A. M. LaGrange of Washington, D.C.[7]

Oriett died on 30 January 1983 in Tarpon Springs.[8]
